Technologies that are progressing at an exponential pace have been coined as "exponential technologies." While often dismissed as trivial or inconsequential in their early stages, these technologies enable entrepreneurs (and entrepreneurial organizations) to often disrupt and surpass incumbent industry players. Some exponential technologies we observe today are additive manufacturing, the blockchain, wearables, synthetic biology, sensors, cognitive computing, drones, and robotics. These are by no means an exhaustive list since new technologies can quickly emerge. Deloitte provides a deep-dive review of Exponentials in its Tech Trends white paper.
