What it is: Multi-platinum producer, songwriter and musician Timbaland has teamed up with Los Angeles-based wearables startup SubPac to bring the music-listening experience to life. SubPac's M2 wearable vest and the S2 seatback device let listeners literally feel the bass in music by replicating the physical feedback of car or home subwoofers. SubPac is working with VR and AR creators to explore how its products can enhance the experience of physical immersion in digital worlds.

Why it's important: Physical feedback makes prerecorded audio feel much more like attending a live show. Wearables like SubPac's vest could make virtual reality or augmented reality experiences far more immersive and realistic.
