Information and automation are certainly driving the 4th industrial revolution. The rate of innovation seems to be doubling rapidly as more people get their hands on better technology.
The Baxter robot showcased at the end of the article is a great representation of what is to come. Humans talking to a robot which can contextualize their response and act accordingly would expedite the work of many jobs. While right now all it can do is "move gears" it is not hard to see how that can be extended to more complex tasks.
